German national team coach Joachim Löw nominated Thursday afternoon his squad for the test match against Sweden on Wednesday 17 November 2010 at 8:30 p.m. in Gothenburg. Included in the 22-man roster were Werder players Per Mertesacker and Marko Marin. After talks with club officials, it was agreed that Bremen keeper Tim Wiese, former Werder star Mesut Özil and Bayern Munich players Philipp Lahm, Thomas Müller, Holger Badstuber and Miroslav Klose would not be invited for Germany’s last test of the year. "Of course we would have liked to have the entire team together," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf Thursday afternoon. “But we have to live with the situation how we would anyhow.”
Löw sees the game against Sweden as a chance to bring young players into the national team. Four youngsters could be making their debut in Mario Götze, Marcel Schmelzer, André Schürrle and Lewis Holtby.
The following 22 players were nominated by Joachim Löw for the test game in Gothenburg: Adler, Neuer, Beck, Boateng, Hummels, Riether, Mertesacker, Schmelzer, Westermann, Götze, Holtby, Großkreutz, Khedira, Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Marin, Podolski, Schürrle, Träsch, Gomez, Cacau, Helmes.
