Things were pretty serious Tuesday morning on the Bremen training grounds. The Werder players were fully concentrated and committed in their preparations for the up-coming Bundesliga home match against Eintracht Frankfurt. As usual, head coach Thomas Schaaf interrupted the various practice sessions of his players to bring them together and give them directions and tips to improve. The Werder coach was helped by assistant coach Wolfgang Rolff and repeatedly asked his players to "be active" in implementing the things addressed. And the work continued in the afternoon. The offensive players worked out in the weight room while the defensive players remained in the changing room and continued to watch video footage.
"We of course are doing everything we can to get back out of this situation," said centre back Sebastian Prödl. Altogether, Thomas Schaaf had available 17 field players and three goalkeepers on Tuesday. Not available was Marko Arnautovic as the Austrian already on Monday felt a bit of a cold and sat out of training on Tuesday.
Philipp Bargfrede and Petri Pasanen meanwhile completed an individual running training session away from their teammates. "I was able to step up considerably my program as opposed to yesterday," said Bargfrede on his way to the changing room. Besides the usual running laps, both Werder players were able to participate in light sprints and drills with the ball. Clemens Fritz for his part was going through an interval training in the morning to prepare for his return to team training. Thomas Schaaf will call his players back together for training Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.
