After Stuttgart’s Arthur Boka entered the scoring sheet in the 86th minute Sunday evening 7 November 2010, the half-dozen was complete – and Stuttgart had sealed a 6-0 defeat of Werder Bremen on the 11th game day. The mood as expected was less than positive for Werder players and coaches after the worst loss under head coach Thomas Schaaf. "It was clear and simple. We did not offer any resistance in the least," said the coach. "We were a good sparring partner today. That’s what you want in boxing if you need confidence. We played very poorly, without any aggressiveness or will in the challenges. And then this kind of result comes about."
Werder manager Klaus Allofs also struggled to find many positive words after the final whistle. "If you do nearly everything wrong for 90 minutes, then it’s not really that far from a 6-0. That was a bitter evening for us. It was a disheartening and poor showing by us. I cannot remember us ever playing so poorly – also in the Bundesliga. We missed quite a few chances the last few days – we are also behind in the Bundesliga. Quite a bit has to change," said Allofs.
Goalkeeper Tim Wiese, who stopped a penalty by Cacau, was one of the main Green-Whites to feel sorry for. "I did not think we could play so horribly. Not everybody is working to give their all. We are just missing the final bite. After falling behind 4-0 you just can’t run around up front, you have to shut things down in the back," said the German international glovesman. "We failed as a team. Now we have to pull together for the club."
