While Tim Wiese returned to team training Friday afternoon after recovering from his knee strain, head coach Thomas Schaaf had to make do without two important midfielders. Marko Marin and Philipp Bargrede both missed the training session two days before the away match in Stuttgart.
German international Marko Marin is currently dealing with a problem in his adductors. "With him we hope that he can play on Sunday," said Schaaf after the Friday afternoon session. Philipp Bargfrede grabbed his thigh after taking a shot in the final action of training on Thursday. And Friday he hadn’t overcome the muscle problem, leaving an appearance on Sunday questionable. "More than questionable" meanwhile are Petri Pasanen and Clemens Fritz who are both still dealing with lingering muscular issues.
There was positive news for Aaron Hunt as the German international received a knock in his shin on Thursday but was able to train today with the team without any problems. Kevin Schindler, for his part, swapped running shoes for football boots for some passing drills on Friday, taking the next step in his rehab efforts.
