There were a number of coaches on Werder Bremen’s training grounds a day after their 2-0 Champions League loss. In addition to head coach Thomas Schaaf and his coaching staff, Austria’s U21 national team coach Andreas Herzog was also at Weser Stadium. With bags filled from the Werder fan shop, the former Werder star not only served as a photographer for fans of Sebastian Prödl but he also used the opportunity for a small chat with the Austrian international defender. While that was going on, Bremen keeper Tim Wiese was working with fitness trainer Yann-Benjamin Kugel for the first time in some time back on the training grounds.
Werder’s number one keeper’s first goal was passing his first physical tests after his strained knee. He spent about 30 minutes on the pitch, dribbling with the ball through an obstacle course. Afterwards, Wiese appeared satisfied. "It was not really a true training session, but just a test. I feel good," said the German international glovesman. Wiese’s next step in his comeback will come on Thursday, 4 November 2010 when he has an individual workout with goalkeeper coach Michael "Tiger" Kraft. And Wiese said a return to team training this week "Is definitely possible".
While the keeper was on his way back to the dressing room, Andreas Herzog had to make do without a chat with his other Austrian compatriot. While their teammates were already under the shower, Marko Arnautovic was going through about 30 minutes of extra training Wednesday morning with Said Husejinovic.
