When Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf was asked at Thursday’s press conference about the chances of Clemens Fritz playing on Saturday 30 October 2010 at 3:30 p.m. against Nuremberg, he hinted at his final answer. The coach said there was only a "small hope" that the right back could play after picking up a muscle injury from the German Cup loss in Munich. Well, it’s now official.
Fritz will not be available for the game on Saturday along with Tim Borowski, who underwent successful ankle surgery on Tuesday, as well as long-time injury victims Christian Vander, Naldo, Dominik Schmidt, Kevin Schindler and Sebastian Boenisch. Taking Fritz’s spot in the roster will be German-Nigerian defender Leon-Aderemi Balogun, who trained with the professional side on Thursday and Friday and was included in Schaaf’s roster.
These 18 players are on the game squad for the Nuremberg game: Mielitz, Wiedwald – Pasanen, Prödl, Mertesacker, Silvestre, Balogun – Bargfrede, Frings, Wesley, Jensen, Hunt, Marin, Husejinovic – Arnautovic, Pizarro, Almeida, Wagner
