The 18 nominated Werder players for the German Cup second round game against Bayern were not the only guests in Munich on Tuesday. The Green-Whites’ injured midfielder Tim Borowski was also in Munich – more precisely in a clinic in the Bavarian capital. "Boro" underwent successful surgery on Tuesday by Dr. Ludwig Seebauer to resolve lingering ankle problems.

"Of course I cannot put a strain on the foot for now. But I want to do some individual work soon," said Borowski after the successful operation. "Boro" however did not want to give an exact date when he would return to the training grounds. The Werder player is currently in Munich and is expected to return to Bremen on Thursday to begin rehab.

His teammates had already returned to Bremen Wednesday after the unlucky 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the German Cup. While the starters completed only a light running and individual recovery session, the reserves along with Hugo Almeida, Aaron Hunt and Sandro Wagner played a game of five-against-five on the grounds. Clemens Fritz however was not in either group as the right back returned from Munich slightly banged up with muscle problems. And it is questionable if he can play on Saturday 30 October 2010 at 3:30 p.m. against Nuremberg.
