Werder have come up with a sensational gesture to celebrate North Germany and Bremens obsession with football. Over the coming days Bundesliga top club Werder Bremen will present clubs from the region with a whopping 3,000 balls from sport manufacturer Derbystar. On Friday afternoon Werders management trio Klaus-Dieter Fischer, Manfred Müller and Klaus Allofs bestowed the first load upon one of Bremens young sides FC Union 60. During the next few weeks some 657 further groups of youngsters from Bremen and Werders partners from the "100 Schools - 100 Clubs" will benefit from Werders generous offer.
"Over the last two years we have experienced a real euphoria in this region which we are very thankful for. The increase in club members and ever rising numbers of spectators are further proof of the passion for Werder", explained Manfred Müller. Klaus-Dieter Fischer continued: "Werder wish to express our gratitude for this support with this offer. Aside from our 100 schools - 100 clubs partners, their are many others who have added to this football boom in particular through their youth programmes. That we want to support."
Every registered Bremen club, male or female, will recieve two Derbystar balls. Bremens Football Federations (BFV) registration lists are being used as a basis from the 2005/2006 season. "100% Partner" schools will recieve six balls and "100% Partner" clubs will be presented with ten.
