Beating Gladbach on Saturday and then relaxing the muscles on Sunday before completing another final training on Monday 25 October 2010. Werder Bremen’s calendar is packed with the next showdown coming Tuesday 26 October 2010 in the German Cup at Bayern Munich at 8:30 p.m. in the Allianz Arena. And the mood in Bremen camp is high as head coach Thomas Schaaf can call upon the same squad in the German Cup second round as against Gladbach.
Philipp Bargfrede missed Monday afternoon’s training due to a slight muscle problem but it was only a precautionary measure. "We rested him, but he is flying with us to Munich and will be available," said Thomas Schaaf at the press conference before the game. Things do not look as good though for Tim Borowski, whose ankle injury is proving more stubborn than expected and surgery is not being ruled out. Even without "Boro", the Green-Whites are heading to Munich with a lot of confidence. "Games against Bayern are always special matches, and the German Cup is a very special competition for us. The special thing is that we are facing off already in the second round," said Per Mertesacker after the final training session. "There are certainly worse situations to meet up against Bayern," added Mertesacker about Munich’s current poor form.
These 18 players are on the squad against Bayern Munich: Mielitz, Wiedwald, Pasanen, Wesley, Arnautovic, Fritz, Marin, Hunt, Prödl, Silvestre, Husejinovic, Wagner, Jensen, Frings, Almeida, Pizarro, Mertesacker, Bargfrede.
