The Green-Whites held their collective breath in the 35th minute against Twente. After an unsuccessful cross from Nacer Chadil sailed over the Werder goal, Bremen keeper Tim Wiese suddenly went to the ground in pain. "When I turned I twisted my foot," explained the German international after the game. "At first it was an unbelievable pain and a shock because I thought it was something very bad," said Wiese, who had to be subbed out immediately, leaving Sebastian Mielitz to make his Champions League debut.
"Always expect the unexpected," said the 21-year-old about his first showing in the Champions League. "Miele" twice stood between the posts in the Bundeliga for Werder’s professional side and once in the Europa League. So his happiness about his Champions League was appropriate. "It’s every kid’s dream to play in the Champions League," said Mielitz. "Coming from the bench may be difficult but the adrenaline gets the body quickly ready." Mielitz was praised from all sides after the game. "It was very difficult for him to prove himself in that situation. He did a great job. We are very satisfied," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.
