On Wednesday 20 October 2010 Twente Enschede and Werder Bremen will once again face off. The teams squared off last season as well – in the Round of 32 of the Europa League where Werder beat the Dutch side 4-2 on aggregate to advance to the next round. But the stakes will be higher on Wednesday when both teams fight for points in the Champions League group stage. "Of course we have the intention of winning this game," said Twente coach Michel Preud'homme at the official press conference Tuesday afternoon. "We shouldn’t worry about counting points but instead concentrate on playing football. But it’s clear that a victory is necessary to think about the next round."
The Belgian coach, who replaced Steve McLaren last summer, also doesn’t want to think about the fact that the team won the last two home games against German teams. "Playing against teams from the Bundesliga is always difficult. German teams are very physical and have a super mentality," said Pred'homme, who adds that his team has "respect but not fear" of Bremen. "They have a very strong team. You can see that since they were in the second pot at the draw." Twente striker Marc Janko also sees Bremen as a top team. "They always are among the contenders in Germany. The fact that they are lower in the standings at the moment is an exception," said Janko, who expects a very strong Werder side.
