Torsten Frings' teammates had already vanished into the changing room after Friday training when the Werder captain made his way to the next treatment appointment at Weser Stadium. "I am making good progress and it’s getting better," said Frings, who hopes to complete running drills this weekend. "Maybe I can get back on the training grounds on Monday."
So can Werder fans hope for an appearance by the captain on Saturday 16 October 2010 at 3:30 p.m. against Freiburg? "Of course it is possible. I only missed a week of training. But in the end the coach decides," said Frings. But the green light for Frings can only be given if there is no fluid in the treated hip area.
Frings said the tight schedule with games in the Bundesliga, Champions League and German Cup is the reason he decided for the surgery last week. "You cannot always just recover from something and you have to go in the next game with small aches and pains. But small things also can turn into something bigger. And that was the case with this," said Frings.
