Some goal shooting and a short game were on the training schedule Wednesday morning for Werder’s professional side. The training staff had to make do with that with only an eight-man training group during the international break. Mikael Silvestre and Aaron Hunt were away in Emsland on Freren for Werder’s social project "100 schools – 100 clubs".
But Petri Pasanen was back on the pitch. Still the Finn will be leaving on Thursday for his national team’s games in Europe. With a bit of luck, though, head coach Thomas Schaaf will be able to welcome a couple of injured players back to team training. "The healing process has gone optimally," said Clemens Fritz, who has been out with a thigh muscle ligament tear. Just like teammate Tim Borowski (after groin problems) the defender Fritz hopes to decide after the final test in the afternoon if he can train again with the team on Thursday.
Philipp Bargfrede will also be back soon after his cold. The return of Claudio Pizarro to team training however may take a bit longer. The Peruvian is completing an individual running program this week but he does not rule out re-joining his teammates on the training grounds next week.
