German international Torsten Frings will be back on the goal hunt for Werder Bremen in the coming season announced General Manager Klaus Allofs on Friday. The 28 year old, who won the double with FC Bayern Munich last season, will sign a three year deal with Werder. The reactions to his transfare have been extremely positive.

Klaus Allofs said: "We're happy about the return of Torsten Frings. With Torsten we have strenghtened our side with an experienced international. We need not comment on his footballing qualities, he proved himself during his years in Bremen and also at Bayern and in Dortmund, both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League."

Headcoach Thomas Schaaf: "We are aware that we've picked up an uniquely strong player. He has gathered a great deal of experience in recent years both internationally and with his clubs in the Champions League and this will be very profitable for our side."

Captain Frank Baumann was also happy about reuniting with his international colleague at club level: "Every team can do with a player like 'Lutscher'. He definately improves our side. I'm convinced that he'll be of even more value to us now than he was three years ago. He has matured. Torsten needs to feel comfortable on the pitch to be at the top of his game, have an understanding with his colleagues. I think he'll fit in well again although the face of the squad has changed a lot while he was away."

For fellow German international Christian Schulz, the timing of Frings signing before the Confederations Cup is of no surprise: "He has commented of late that he would be interested in playing in Bremen and having signed everything has panned out for him. I don't agree that this is a step back sportingly for him. Quite the opposite, he has joined a team which intends to be in amoungst the top sides in the coming years. With his character he will fit well into our crazy gang."
