Werder Bremen are making the trip for their Bundesliga away match on Sunday 3 October 2010 against Bayer Leverkusen with 16 players but without Tim Borowski. The German midfielder told head coach Thomas Schaaf Saturday morning that the groin injury suffered in the game against Inter Milan had not healed enough.

"The game in Leverkusen comes two or three days too early for Tim," said Schaaf after Saturday’s final training. While Borowski will be missing in the game at BayArena, Werder’s U23 defender Leon-Aderemi Balogun will be in the Green-Whites’ Bundesliga roster for the first time after taking part in the final training. Missing from the training session was Onur Ayik, who played for Werder’s U23 side on Saturday against Kickers Offenbach. But like Balogun, Ayik is also included in the professional roster and will travel with the team to Leverkusen.

Despite the many injuries, Schaaf and the team are positive looking forward to the game on Sunday. "We will not go crazy. We definitely have a team that can compete with Leverkusen," said the coach. "We are not complaining but just going at things with our full power."

The roster for the game against Bayer Leverkusen: Tim Wiese, Sebastian Mielitz, Per Mertesacker, Sebastian Prödl, Petri Pasanen, Leon-Aderemi Balogun, Mikael Silvestre, Wesley, Daniel Jensen, Philipp Bargfrede, Aaron Hunt, Marko Marin, Said Husejinovic, Marko Arnautovic, Hugo Almeida, Onur Ayik
