The airplane carrying the Werder Bremen team took off Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. for the Champions League away match against titleholders Inter Milan. After the recent injuries to Torsten Frings, Claudio Pizarro and Clemens Fritz, the Green-Whites left for the city with the most Champions League triumphs (10 – three for Inter Milan and seven for AC Milan) with a decimated squad but with more than just a minor chance. "Of course you have to respect your opponents. But if I was scared I would have stayed home. That would be totally wrong," said Daniel Jensen.

Manager Klaus Allofs exuded confidence at the team’s departure at Bremen airport. "Despite the missing players we have a team that can survive at Inter. Our goal is to play a good match and if possible bring home three points," said Allofs. But the Italians are the clear favourites. "Inter are certainly the favourites. After all they won the title last season. But we will try to use our quality and do the things that make us strong. If we can do that, then I think we can do quite a bit," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.

Marko Arnautovic was under contract with Inter last season and is looking forward to seeing some old team-mates. "It’s a nice thing that I am playing with Werder now and can fully concentrate on what I need to do. We have to give our all and play with confidence that we want to win. Then anything is possible," said Arnautovic.
