The sun shined over Bremen Wednesday morning and despite the loss the night before in Hannover there were two pieces of good news at the Werder training grounds. Claudio Pizarro and Per Mertesacker both completed a full team training for the first time in some time without any problems.
"Everything is okay. Of course I won’t be able to play 90 minutes but I think that I can play again on Saturday," said Claudio Pizarro, who recovered from his muscle strain, of the North Derby against Hamburg Saturday night. Per Mertesacker, who trained wearing a protective facial mask, was also in good spirits. "Everything went well and is in order. I received the green light from the doctors and had good experiences with the mask," said Mertesacker, who is wearing the mask after suffering a broken eye socket.
Naldo however will remain unavailable for the Green-Whites. "I was in Munich and more pictures of the knee were taken because it really hasn’t gotten better at all," said the Brazilian. "The examination in Munich confirmed our thoughts that an increase in training burden would be counterproductive to a quick recovery," said team doctor Dr. Götz Dimanski. "But the current examination results show no necessity for other therapeutical measures than what we are already using. Naldo must continue to be patient,” said Dimanski. "I will miss already another four weeks," added Naldo.
