Werder Bremen have concluded their final training session of the 2004/2005 season. To open the session, coach Thomas Schaaf thanked his players for the work they put in over the last few months and took the opportunity to wish those leaving the club all the best. Schaafs words were followed by a fun filled kick around with outfield players replacing the goalkeepers. Johan Micoud, Ümit Davala and Frank Baumann all showing their talents between the posts. Andi Reinke and Valerien Ismael also shone, but this time as strikers in a game about revelry and not results.
It was the relaxed conclusion of a of a training camp for regeneration but which included a pinch of the ever neccessary bite and determination. "The trainings camp served it's purpose with the lads concluding their final trainings programm with discipline and motivation", said Schaaf who got the players together for a jog along the beach on Friday morning at 8:30am. "I will continue to do these regenerations trainings camps. Unfortunately, due to other appointments, it's not possible every season."
General Manager Klaus Allofs was also full of praise for the seasons conclusion on Mallorca. "Not many believed it but we worked through our programme right to the last. Following our successful finish to the Bundesliga, it was noticable that the team was happy to be on holiday but are still focusing on their goals for the next season."
The sporting division also achieved their goal of finishing the season and starting their summer holidays without any injuries to speak of. Dane Daniel Jensen, who had been suffering from a slight achilles problem returned to full team training again for the duration of the trip.
