Saturday will see a premiere at Weser Stadium as there will be lowered fencing for the first time for a Werder Bremen Bundesliga home match at the home standing area in the East Curve. The reduced height of the fences to 1.10 meters should give Werder fans a free view of the pitch, giving them a better connection to the game.
A lowering of the fencing for the game against Mainz in only possible because the DFB commission for prevention and security allowed Werder’s request, giving a special allowance for a test run on Saturday to lower by one half the fencing.
Werder Bremen are hoping therefore for disciplined behavior by their supporters on Saturday and no problems in their test run so they can use the lower fencing at Bundesliga matches which Werder fans know from Champions League games.
