Werder Bremen's training session Wednesday morning took place without head coach Thomas Schaaf. The Green-Whites boss is currently in Geneva until Thursday at an elite coaching forum, on which he has taken part for years. In his absence, assistant coach Wolfgang Rolff took over the training group and observed some improvements with the two new acquisitions.
"Wesley and Silvestre have been leaving some very good impressions and have implemented themselves well into the team," said Rolff. Also missing from training was Claudio Pizarro, who is labouring with a torn left thigh muscle fibre. Another player out of practice on Wednesday was Philipp Bargfrede, as the 21-year-old is dealing with a gastro-intestinal infection which could keep him out a couple of days.
For the second training session at 3:30 p.m. at the Weser Stadium, Rolff called together a six-member group with Sandro Wagner, Felix Wiedwald, Said Husejinovic, Daniel Jensen, Mikael Silvestre and Wesley.
