National trainer Jürgen Klinsmann made the day for four Werder players with call-ups for Fabian Ernst, Tim Borowski, Miroslav Klose and Christian Schulz being summoned to join the German national side for the Confederations Cup. Werder Bremens contingent is second only to the number of players selected from Bayern Munich (5) for the 'Mini-World-Cup'.
"My selection is an important step for me with reference to the World Cup in 2006", glowed Tim Borowski. "A lot can happen between now and then but it's fantastic to be selected now." Colleague Miroslav Klose added: "It's possible that the odd player could be replaced but I believe this squad will more or less be the same one which will be selected for the World Cup."
The four Werder stars, who will be joind by future Bremen player Patrick Owomoyela (Armenia Bielefeld) have no intention of just being there-abouts. "Of course I'm burning to play, I want to play my part in making this a successful tournament for us", explained Borowski determinedly.
