A Bundesliga break of 104 days is nearing its end. The time since the last game day in early May was painfully long, building that much more anticipation for the opening whistle throughout the nation. "The anticipation is not only high with us," said manager Klaus Allofs at a press conference. The Werder players will finally return to competitive Bundesliga action when they take on Hoffenheim on Saturday 21 August 2010 at 3:30 p.m. in the kickoff of the 2010-11 Bundesliga season.
The Green-Whites travel to Hoffenheim after advancing past Ahlen in the German Cup and beating Italian side Sampdoria Genua in the first leg of the playoffs of the Champions League. "That has to give us some strength," said head coach Thomas Schaaf looking back to the Wednesday night game. "We have put some things in our minds and know the way we have to take. But now we have to take it."
