Werder Bremen were on the receiving end of a 1-5 (0-1) defeat at the hands of Fulham FC in their pre-season friendly in London. After a strong first half, during which the Green-Whites took the lead through Claudio Pizarro (18’), Werder allowed the game to get away from them in the second period.
Zamora (54’) and substitute Gera, with his perfect hat-trick (66’, 73’, 76’), as well as Johnson, turned the game on its head and secured a deserved win for the English club, although the final score-line was a couple of goals higher than necessary.
