Things came to a circle for Marko Marin on Thursday as it was in July 2009 in Bad Waltersdorf when he met for the first time his new Werder team-mates. And in 2010 his first day of work with the Green-Whites was also in Bad Waltersdorf. Last year he was a new acquisition, this time around he is a wildly welcomed World Cup participant. "I am really happy about coming back. I have worked out individually the last couple days to not give my team-mates too big of a head start," said the 20-year-old Marin, who had a small breakfast with his colleagues at the Bremen airport.
The plane took off from Bremen punctually at 9:09 a.m. towards Graz where the team bus took the Green-Whites to their team quarters at the Falkensteiner Hotel & Spa Bad Waltersdorf. There were 22 players on board including as planned captain Torsten Frings and the World Cup players Marko Marin and Daniel Jensen. Also on the plane was the injured Naldo, who will continue his rehab in Austria. The remaining three World Cup participants Tim Wiese, Mesut Özil and Per Mertesacker will arrive in Bad Waltersdorf on Monday, 2 August 2010.
It remains unclear when Tim Borowski will arrival as the midfielder could not travel due to a grippe infection. Once he's healthy again Borowski will come to Bad Waltersdorf. For the rest of the players, training began Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Styria, where the heat of the past few days eased off and a change of weather came in. The Green-Whites took the pitch for training at Bad Waltersdorf Stadium in 22 degree Celsius and rainy conditions. Things start back up on Friday at 7:20 a.m.
