Torsten Frings and Leon-Aderemi Balogun completed their usual individual program with fitness coach Yann-Benjamin Kugel while their team-mates worked on their game form and shots on the main grounds. Brazilian Naldo however was not around. After having to shorten his training session Monday morning, the centre back Naldo spent Tuesday being checked out by Dr. Ulrich Boenisch in Augsburg as head coach Thomas Schaaf said after training.

"We don't know anything for sure. It was not very good with his knee and now he is being checked out by the doctor. After the examination we should know the results," said Schaaf. The 1.98m centre back Naldo has formed along with Per Mertesacker one of the best interior defences in the league over the past four seasons. Still Sebastian Prödl is ready to fill in as the team's sports bosses have high hopes. "Sebastian Prödl has to set a standard. We have big expectations for him," said Schaaf during the training camp in Donaueschingen.

Also not taking part in the drills were Aaron Hunt and Markus Rosenberg. Thomas Schaaf said Hunt took time off in the morning for personal reasons while Rosenberg was suffering slight thigh problems. The Swede Rosenberg is due to return to team training on Wednesday or at latest on Thursday at the training camp in Bad Waltersdorf.
