Sunny summer weather, a high-calibre opponent and optimal conditions – that’s how Werder would describe their test match victory over Racing Santander in Delmenhorst. Werder manager Klaus Allofs was not only happy about the team’s performance on the pitch, though after the game he said: "That was a very good game and a big improvement with more passion compared to the game against Freiburg on Friday."
And head coach Thomas Schaaf agreed, saying: "We saw many things in the end that we worked on in preparations which we did well. We moved very well and had a lot of confidence with the ball and kept passing. We had quick combination passes in the game and played the ball at the right time and created a lot of chances for more goals. That was drastically better than against Freiburg. We still had some mistakes but altogether it was a step forward today."
