Werder Bremen finished their training camp on Norderney after seven days of intensive and highly concentrated work as well as a test match against KFC Uerdingen. After a final training session on the pitch Thursday morning and a short midday rest, the Werder troops boarded the ferry at 4:15 p.m. and an hour later the team bus departed Frisia I in Norddeich for the German mainland.
All told it was the ninth time that Werder Bremen prepared for an up-coming season on the North Sea island. And it’s not unlikely that more training camps will follow on Germany’s ninth-largest island. For certain however is that the team has spent their training camp at the Golf Hotel for the last time. "It will be torn down," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. "We had a lot of experiences in the hotel and always felt welcome. It is certainly too bad that there will not be the Golf Hotel in the future. But for us it’s mainly about being well prepared, and the conditions on site are very good."
Before thoughts need to be made about a next stay on Norderney, the Green-Whites have two more training camps planned in the coming weeks in Donaueschingen and Bad Waltersdorf.
