The first half of Werder's training camp on Norderney was finished yesterday as the Bremen players look forward to heading back home. A run on the beach in the morning was followed by slalom runs, short sprints and intensive work on the rubber rope in the afternoon as well as various game forms in the early evening as the training sessions are developing a routine. One player who has not taken part in the training sessions has been Naldo, as the Brazilian centre back has been working on an individual program away from the team due to a knee injury.

"I had a similar injury two years ago. But then it was the left knee and the pain was not quite as bad as this time," said Naldo in an exclusive interview with WERDER.TV. "I have had the pain for about three months now and was already in treatment in Hannover," said the 27-year-old, who is working as quickly as possible to return to team training. "I hope that I can be back on the pitch soon with the team. Always just riding the bike and watching how the team heads to training is very boring." The first improvements from individual training can already be seen. "Slowly it is getting better. I was able to run at least, even though I had slight pain," said Naldo.

Also missing from the training grounds the past couple days has been Petri Pasanen. "We have to have another day or two of patience with Petri," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf. "He has a problem with a hip flexor and can therefore not take care in certain drills, such as the jumps," added the coach.
