Werder Bremen and midfielder Carlos Alberto have parted ways for good. Manager Klaus Allofs confirmed Thursday night the agreement in which Werder Bremen lets go of the former Brazilian international to Vasco da Gama where the 25-year-old signed a contract until 2013. "Carlos Alberto will not return to our roster," said the chairman of the board of directors.
The Brazilian transferred in July 2007 from Brazilian cup winners Fluminense to the Weser. Carlos Alberto won the Champions League with FC Porto in 2004 as well as the world club championship and the Brazilian title with Corinthians in 2005. The Brazilian, then a 19-year-old, scored the 1-0 lead goal in Porto’s 3-0 victory over AS Monaco in the 2004 Champions League final. He could not, however, make a breakthrough in Bremen.
