The Werder Bremen troops have arrived safe and sound on Norderney. After a morning training session in Bremen, the Green-Whites left mid-day for Norddeich where the team bus rolled onto the ferry shortly before 2 p.m. And head coach Thomas Schaaf brought his team together in the evening for the first session of the training camp in preparation for the 2010-11 season.

"I look forward to Norderney every year. It is always nice here," Schaaf told journalists on the trip over the waterway. "But the players' hearts are racing a bit more than mine when they think about the island because the guys know what's awaiting them." One player who only knows from heresy what he can expect is new acquisition Marko Arnautovic. When asked what his team-mates have already told him, the Austrian laughed and said: "I didn't know about the island ahead of time and am here for the first time. But it's kind of like holiday in Dubai just much tougher," said the striker, who was on loan to Inter Milan last season.

Outside defender Clemens Fritz has already gathered plenty of Norderney experience over the years. "We are not really looking forward very much to the week as the number of fans because we know that there is hard work waiting for us. But we know that the preparations are the foundation for the entire season," said the 29-year-old Fritz.
