Striker Hugo Almeida, who is playing for Portugal at the World Cup, has already become a fan favourite with Werder. Before his departure for South Africa, he talked with WERDER.TV about his life in Green and White.
"Since I have been here I have continued to develop - both as a person and as a footballer," said the 26-year-old. "Altogether I have had a really good time with Werder until now." Almeida knows exactly to whom he owes a large part of that. "I am really happy when the fans call my name. I know how important they are and have really let them in my heart."
Almeida also talked about the Portuguese national team prior to the World Cup. "We had a big change. You can kind of compare our team with the German national team," said Almeida.
More about Portugal's chances at the World Cup and who Almeida sees as best footballer in the world can be seen exclusively at <>WERDER.TV.
