The team manager of the German national team, Oliver Bierhoff, on Tuesday gave Werder keeper Tim Wiese support after he had expressed his disappointment about being only the number two keeper for Germany. Bierhoff said he saw no violation of the German team's honour code with Wiese's comments.

"But the headlines do not match with what the player said. Tim expressed his disappointment that he was not named the number one. That is legitimate. But he said in talks with us - as well as in the cited interview - that the success of the team is paramount to everything else," said Bierhoff, who added that Wiese gives his all in every training. "He is positive for the group." Bierhoff continued that he did not see Wiese's comments as criticism of national team coach Joachim Löw.

The Werder keeper trained with his club team-mates at the public practice in Eppan. Manuel Neuer, who has been named the number one keeper, could not take part in the training as a gastrointestinal infection is keeping the Schalke goalkeeper on the sidelines. But the German coaching staff assumes that Neuer will be available to play in the friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Thursday. Tim Wiese, however, said he hopes to play his way into Germany's goal and not due to an injury of another. "The relationship between Manuel and me is too good for that," said Wiese.

The German team will leave their camp in South Tyrol on Wednesday and make their way back to Germany. On 3 June 2010 the Germans will play their final friendly against Bosnia at 8:30 p.m. in Frankfurt. And the team leaves for South Africa on 6 June 2010. The German national team plays its first match at the World Cup on 13 June 2010 against Australia at 8:30 p.m. in Durban.
