Aaron Hunt had to sit out of training Tuesday morning due to minor thigh muscle problem. "It's not bad," said the midfielder. "I am going to the doctor this afternoon and hope that I can come back in the next couple days." It remains unclear if the 23-year-old will be fit in time for the important match against Schalke on Saturday.
Also missing from training was long-time injured Christian Vander (pelvic inflammation), Peter Niemeyer (ankle injury), Sebastian Mielitz (knee problems) and Sandro Wagner (game experience with the U23 team) meanwhile were all able to complete the training session without a problem. Wagner admitted he is confident after three goals in the first six games with Werder's third division side. "Things have worked very well with the U23s. Now I hope I can prove myself with the professionals. I feel very good," said Wagner.
Spectators at the Weser Stadium training grounds did see a new face as former Werder striker Adrian Kunz from Switzerland is observing training with Thomas Schaaf's coaching team. "He will look over our shoulders a bit this week and gather some experience and then come again in the fall," said the Bremen head coach.
