It was easy to see through Torsten Frings how motivated the Green-Whites are. The Bremen captain reiterated once again after the final training the huge chance the final three game days represent. "Before the season we wanted to reach a European competition. And now we can reach the Champions League. We can turn a good season into a very good one," said Frings ahead of the game against Cologne. And he appealed to his teammates to listen to themselves. "You only have to listen and read our interviews. Everyone wants to reach the Champions League. Now we have to show something special to deserve it," said Frings.
The 18-man roster for the important match against Cologne was set after the final training. Missing from the squad is yellow card suspended Tim Borowski with Aymen Abdennour replacing him. Striker Sandro Wagner will once again gather game experience with the U23 team. And the game on Saturday will come too early for Sebastian Mielitz for a spot on the bench as the keeper will go through individual training instead.
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf nominated the following roster for the match against Cologne: Wiese, Wiedwald, Fritz, Naldo, Mertesacker, Boenisch, Abdennour, Frings, Prödl, Pasanen, Özil, Hunt, Marin, Almeida, Pizarro, Jensen, Bargfrede, Rosenberg.
