On Saturday, Werder Bremen will welcome Freiburg to Weser Stadium, where a sold-out crowd of 37,000 spectators are expected for the 3:30 p.m. kickoff. Head coach Thomas Schaaf warned at the press conference before the game that his team cannot underestimate Freiburg, who are currently 16th in the table. "Freiburg play good football if you let them. We cannot let yourselves to continually rely on making good on things. And we cannot let the opponents have success in front of our goal like we did last weekend. We have push forward straight away instead of running after them later on," said Schaaf.
The first game of the season between the two teams ended in a 6-0 victory for Werder and the Green-Whites hope to again bag three points against Freiburg. Head coach Thomas Schaaf announced his 18-man roster for the game Friday afternoon. And included in the roster were midfielders Torsten Frings (after red card suspension) and Tim Borowski (grippe).
The following players will be checking into the team headquarters at the Bremen Parkhotel: Wiese, Wiedwald, Fritz, Naldo, Mertesacker, Boenisch, Frings, Borowski, Prödl, Pasanen, Özil, Hunt, Marin, Almeida, Pizarro, Jensen, Bargfrede, Rosenberg.
