The time without goalkeepers at Werder Bremen is over. The Green-Whites had keepers Tim Wiese and U23 backstop Felix Wiedwald at training on Thursday. Both are expected to be available for the Bundesliga match in Dortmund. "Certainly it was not 100 percent, but I think that I am far enough along to play again. We also have two days left," said Tim Wiese after the training session.
There is a much-anticipated comeback coming with Sandro Wagner. The striker’s steps forward in training could lead to an appearance in the third league. Wagner, who suffered a torn knee ligament last fall, is planned to make his Werder debut with the U23 team at home against Heidenheim.
All in all, head coach Thomas Schaaf made a positive conclusion about the week of training. "Everyone is looking forward to the game in Dortmund. We will go out there top prepared. We are in very good condition. We did not have a game during the week and finally had some time to relieve some pressure and get our heads clear. And now we are fully fixated on this game on Saturday," said Schaaf.
