Werder keeper Sebastian Mielitz on Friday prematurely extended his contract with Werder Bremen for two more years until 30 June 2012. "This signature for me is a confirmation of my performances the past year, in which I played in the Europa League and the Bundesliga. I will do everything I can that things continue with Werder after these two years," said the 20-year-old keeper.
"Sebastian has done his part to make sure that we are well-stocked at the goalkeeper position. In the past year you saw that he can be thrown into the deep end and he can hold his own," said Werder board of directors chairman Klaus Allofs after the contract signature. "Sebastian has developed very well in the last couple years. His appearances with the professionals gave him an extra push. And he proved himself. He has big potential and we want to continue our daily work with him," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.
