Werder's new acquisition Aymen Abdennour has not had an easy start with the Green-Whites, having received loads of criticism after his first couple of appearances for Bremen. But on Wednesday, head coach Thomas Schaaf pledged his support for the young Tunisian. "I think the public's image of him is not an issue at all within the team," said Schaaf, who spoke of the responsibility of the whole team. "There is not just one culprit for any of the goals we allowed. Aymen did not have a top game in Mönchengladbach just like the others. But if you could see how determined he works every day and works on things, then I do not think this evaluation is correct," said Schaaf.
The Bremen coach remains confident in his left back and his skills. "I think it's careless how people are dealing with this young player. If an evaluation is so absolutely false, then it's my duty to step up for this young man and step in the line of fire. I am convinced that Aymen completely identifies with Werder Bremen and can cope with everything," said Schaaf.
