Werder midfielder Jurica Vranjes will play with immediate effect for Turkish top flight club Genclerbirligi Ankara. The 30-year-old, who has a contract with Werder until 30 June 2011, was sent on loan until the end of the season to the currently ninth-place side in the Turkish Süper Lig. Werder manager Klaus Allofs officially announced the agreement Monday after completing the final formalities.
The Turkish club is being trained by German coach Thomas Doll, who has trained Hamburg and Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga in the past. Vranjes transferred from Stuttgart to Bremen in 2005 and played 90 Bundesliga matches, scoring five goals. The former Croatian international, who had 30 caps for his homeland, won the 2006 League Cup and the 2009 German Cup with the Green-Whites.
