Werder players shrugged off heavy snowfall during Friday afternoon’s final training for the match in Mönchengladbach. Head coach Thomas Schaaf said he was confident after the week of training. "We will finally get the results which have been missing the past few games," said the coach. "We made clear this week especially those points which we must improve upon and worked very intensively and very effectively on those. I hope that we can now implement those in the game," said Schaaf. The Bremen coach also said he does not see the adverse weather conditions as an obstacle in gaining the much-desired three points. "I am certain that we will find a green grass in Gladbach on which you can play an orderly football," said Schaaf.

One player who knows things quite well in Gladbach is Marko Marin, who transferred to Werder from Gladbach last summer. And Marin is looking forward to his return. "Of course this will be a special game for me – one in which I will go into highly motivated. But the whole team is well prepared. It may not look like it, but the training conditions were really not that bad. Luckily today it was not that cold and the pitch was quite okay," said Marin.

Head coach Thomas Schaaf nominated the following players for the match at Borussia Mönchengladbach: Wiese, Vander, Pasanen, Naldo, Borowski, Fritz, Rosenberg, Marin, Özil, Hunt, Prödl, Abdennour, Husejinovic, Frings, Almeida, Pizarro, Niemeyer, Mertesacker.
