That was pretty manageable. Thomas Schaaf had to do without 11 of his players for Monday's training. While long-time injured Sebastian Boenisch (rehab after knee surgery) and Philipp Bargfrede (knee problemes) worked on their comebacks individually, Daniel Jensen (Achilles tendon problems), Aaron Hunt (gastro-intestinal infection), Dusko Tosic (individual training), Jurica Vranjes (muscular problems) and Claudio Pizarro (grippe infection) were all missing as well. A return of the Peruvian Pizarro to team training is close.
"Claudio will be back by the day after tomorrow at the latest," said Schaaf after the nearly one-hour training. Schaaf also said that Aaron Hunt is slowly on the way to improvement. The 23-year-old Hunt was unable to travel to the German national team over the weekend for a performance test as had been hoped.
Werder's German internationals Tim Wiese, Per Mertesacker, Marko Marin and Mesut Özil were all in Stuttgart last night as German national team Joachim Löw's team will meet for three days for a performance test.
Bremen's next training session takes place on Tuesday, 26 January 2010 at 3 p.m.
