"I had Werder on my checklist before the season," admitted Bayern Munich keeper Hans-Jörg Butt in an interview with the Munich daily Münchner Merkur. And the 35-year-old Butt believes Thomas Schaaf's team will be a tough opponent for the game against Bayern Munich on Saturday, 23 January 2010 at 3:30 p.m. at Weser Stadium despite a recent stretch of negative results. "That makes them even more dangerous," Butt said on fcb.de, Bayern's homepage.
"We are not satisfied how we have played lately. There is some distance to the top and we have to make sure that it doesn't get any further," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf at the press conference before the game. "Now we are in this bad situation, which everyone has to be aware of and fight against it," added Tim Borowski. Otherwise there is no chance to beat a strong Bayern side, which has won their last seven games.
But Werder will be best prepared for the game. "We are dealing with the specialities of Bayern's game and trying to find as many answers as possible," said Schaaf. "But first and foremost, we are concentrating on what we can do," added the coach. And that is quite a lot. Nearly the entire team is available for the game and everyone will have to play up to their potential. "It is time for different results," demanded Thomas Schaaf.
