Werder players had fewer problems with the pitch conditions than they did with the heavy fog surrounding Weser Stadium Monday afternoon. But they remained concentrated while getting their work done. Head coach Thomas Schaaf had the services of all his players except for injured Niklas Andersen (groin problem), Sebastian Boenisch (rehab after knee operation) and Philipp Bargfrede.
Claudio Pizarro also was able to go full steam after his incident of falling on the ice and suffering some minor knee pain. "Claudio did not have any more problems after the Frankfurt game," said Schaaf. The Peruvian striker completed the 1.5-half hour training session on Sunday morning with the reserves on the snow-covered pitch. Schaaf has a good personnel situation as the team begins to plan over the coming days for the home match against Bayern Munich.
Werder's next training session will take place on Tuesday, 19 January 2010 at 10 a.m.
