The Werder players appeared quite satisfied with the conditions on the Bremen training grounds on Monday. "This is better than in Dubai," said Aaron Hunt. The 23-year-old praised the good work by crew members from Stadtgrün Bremen, who cleared the rest of the snow from the training grounds. "Of course it's a difference in temperatures. But the session went well," said the midfielder Hunt, who was able to return to team training after recovery from a cold.
Head coach Thomas Schaaf was also satisfied. "Everything went okay," said the 48-year-old coach, who could not really count on such good conditions two days ago. "The pitch was in good shape, just like we expect," said Schaaf.
Not being able to take part in training was Hugo Alemeida. Schaaf said the Portuguese striker had to pass due to a slight cold. Also not at training were Jurica Vranjes, Onur Ayik (both thigh strains), Timo Perthel (bruised calf), Niklas Andersen (groin problem), Dusko Tosic (cold) and Philipp Bargfrede (knee problem).
Away from training, it was announced that Werder would not have another test match before the start of the second half of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The Bremen coach did not necessarily see a disadvantage in this news. "It's not a tragedy that we won't have a second match. Maybe we will have a training on Tuesday with our U23 team," said Schaaf.
