Werder Bremen will face off against Dutch league leaders FC Twente Enschede in the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League according to the draw in Nyon, Switzerland. Reactions to draw:

Thomas Schaaf (head coach):

Twente Enschede cannot be underestimated. They lead the league in Holland, have not lost a game in the league this season; and already won 15 times. They have very good players in their ranks, for example Blaise N’Kufo, who is known from his time in the Bundesliga.

Peter Niemeyer (Werder player and played with Twente Enschede until 2007, was Player of the Year 2004-05 with Twente)

I was just under way this afternoon when I received a lot of calls and text messages from Holland. I was trying to figure out what had happened. I am really happy because I think it's great to play in that stadium again.

I don't know that many of the players on the team as it has changed a lot in the last couple years. But the success they are currently having is very impressive. Leading the standings ahead of powerhouses such as Ajax and PSV means something. And their success internationally confirms that. They even won at Fenerbahce Istanbul.

Per Mertesacker (Werder vice captain):

Twente has been known for many years as a training club, giving the Bundesliga another very strong player in the summer in Eljero Elia in Hamburg. But this season they have a very special run. They are receiving a lot of attention because of their performances. We can only win there with a lot of concentration.
