Less than two weeks before the start of the winter break head coach Thomas Schaaf had his players go through a lactate test on Tuesday morning. Not on hand for the test were Mesut Özil, Aaron Hunt and Dusko Tosic as all three are unable to take part in training due to a grippe infection. Back on board however is Tim Wiese with the keeper overcoming his own grippe to return to the pitch and finishing among the first in the running session.
New face in Werder gear
In addition, spectators on Tuesday got a glimpse of an entirely new face in Green-White gear. His name is Aymen Abdennour. “The defender from Tunisia will take part in team training for the next couple days,” said Schaaf about the 20-year-old left back. Abdennour – the captain of the Tunisian U-21 national team – is currently under contract with the Tunisian top flight side Etoile Sportive Du Sahel.
Werder’s next training session takes place on Wednesday, 9 December 2009 at 10 a.m.
