Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro laced up his football boots for the first time after a long injury break on Monday and completed an individual training session with physiotherapist Stefan Wolters. "I am doing well. We have to wait and see how the foot reacts to the stress," said the Peruvian striker after a nearly one hour morning session. "If the foot can tolerate the program then I can move on. If not, then I will have to take a break," added the striker. It remains entirely unquestionable at the moment if Pizarro will be an option in attack for the up-coming clashes against Schalke and Hamburg.
Neither Tim Wiese und Mesut Özil meanwhile could return to team training on Monday after missing the game in Cologne as both are still labouring under a grippe infection. That left for a quite small training squad on Monday. Only players who did not play or played very little on Sunday were on the pitch on Monday. The other players showed up for light running and massages at Weser Stadium. "There are some minor boo-boos, but I hope that nobody suffered anything serious," said head coach Thomas Schaaf.
The Green-Whites' next training session takes place on Tuesday, 8 December 2009 at 10 a.m.
