The 16-year-old emerging star Iker Muniain’s goal gave Athletic Bilbao the lead in front of a roaring 40,000 spectators at the venerable San Mames. But it was not enough for Bilbao, who saw FC Valencia come back for a 2-1 road victory on the 13th game day of the Primera Division. The loss combined with RCD Mallorca’s 4-1 victory over Saragossa meant eighth placed Bilbao dropped four points behind the final Europa League spot.

Austria Vienna meanwhile are in strong form in the Austrian Bundesliga. Third placed Austria celebrated a 2-0 victory at Ried and trail leaders Rapid Vienna by three points with Salzburg one point ahead of them in second.

Nacional Funchal do not play until Monday night at promoted Uniao Leiria which will complete the 12th game day of the Portuguese top flight. Should Nacional bag all three points they would overtake city rivals Maritimo Funchal for fourth place.
