Thomas Schaaf on Monday talked about the constellation in the standings as well as the three remaining Bundesliga games before the shortened Christmas break. "Of course it's a positive that the team has prevailed in so many games. But still you can see that everything is so tight in the table," said Schaaf. Bremen are undefeated in their last 21 games and collected 27 points until now as well as second place on the table. The Green-Whites can be satisfied with their season thus far.
The Werder coach believes however that his team could have gained the odd additional points. "Altogether the team has really had substantial and good performances. But as so often you would gladly have a bit more," said Schaaf, who expects a heated fight for the international spots. "There are 10 teams up there who will fight for the spots. The circle is big. The situation shows that it is not easy to pull away. We have to continue to work concentrated," added the coach.
There was positive news Monday about Werder's personnel situation. After overcoming his medial collateral knee strain, Tim Borowski returned to team training. "I completed training without problems. I am feeling good," said the 29-year-old Borowski with a smile on his face. Werder's number 6 presents another option for Thomas Schaaf for the game on Thursday. Not at training meanwhile was Jurica Vranjes as the Croatian was suffering from problems on the intersection between the Achilles tendon and fibula.
The next Werder training session takes place on Tuesday, 1 December 2009 at 3 p.m. at Weser Stadium.
