Starting with the positive news: Peter Niemeyer and Tim Borowski came back to training. While Niemeyer prepared with his teammates for the home game against Wolfsburg, Borowski had to be satisfied with an individual workout. "Everything is okay with me. I am fit and can practice again without pain," said Niemeyer after recovering from a broken toe. Borowski meanwhile worked on his comeback away from his teammates with fitness coach Yann-Benjamin Kugel.

"After I already started running, today I was able to begin with some ball training. I don't have any more pain and feel good," said the 29-year-old Borowski, who did not want to give a fixed date when he could return to team training. "Not until I am 100 percent will I come back," said the midfielder.

Centre back Naldo meanwhile was not on the training grounds. "Naldo has a cold and needs a break. But he will probably be back tomorrow," said head coach Thomas Schaaf about his missing Brazilian. Claudio Pizarro, for his part, flew back to Munich to receive treatment from German national team doctor Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt. Pizarro is not expected to miss a long period of time with a hairline fracture in his ankle

Werder's next training session will take place on Wednesday 25 November 2009 at 10 a.m.
